the colours of summer...

Rock pools explored and shells collected...crabs sighted and sandy feet.

Our Christmas vacation was quietly enjoyed...mornings at the beach, afternoon walks in the drizzling rain, quality time with family.
When the sun came out and smiled we had intense heat that needed the use of our new beach umbrella...each afternoon i could not resist the call of a lazy nap snuggled in
with the my boys and my little baby bump.

summer rain...

Santa delivered well...a surfboard was requested back in September. The first surf was in the rain 2 days after Christmas (i took photos whilst huddled under a huge umbrella)
With stiff legs and tightly clenched hands...he desperately wanted to surf with his Daddy.
He was determined, unsure, cold and simply gorgeous. x

Part one...

This little beach getaway was my parents...we crashed it for a couple of days and so pleased we did. They found a little beach cottage gem. Filled with nostalgic charm and endless water views...i love details and this little cottage was filled with so many lovely details. Huge seashells holding back the doors to every room, recycled furniture, wooden boats perched on crooked shelves, vintage books,  hooks holding deckchairs, pale blues mosaic tiles filled the bathroom and worn wooden floor boards with gaps holding bucket loads of salty sand.

Delight as we watched a group of dolphins play in the waves...it made his afternoon and he keeps talking about them.

Gorgeous...........i know!

Most afternoons we make a smoothie...today we called it a pirate smoothie!

milk
frozen berries
banana
large spoonful of natural yogurt
sprinkle of cinnamon

we always add a straw...not today, pirates don't use straws!

Water...

We have had so much rain this past month...the dams are now overflowing.
Thank goodness, this week we used our far share...
It really is nice watching this little one play about in the back garden with his buckets, spades, watering cans, hose splashing about and little dolphin in hand.
" Dolph" he likes to call him. He is the favourite of all the marine creatures!

And speaking of water...more...found in the park today!

Shades of blue...

I'm not sure if it's because I have a little boy...

but I am noticing gorgeous shades of blue....dotted through my photographs.

i love everything about this old sandpit boat...

i don't go anywhere without a ball....you can just see our favourite globe ball
poking out of my beach bag

he has his daddy's eyes... twinkling blue

a vintage desk, globe and a wooden tool kit...what's not to love
 about these old treasures

crisp blue skies, cold water and the sun just setting...a very happy boy.

Little moments that made me...smile...this week

This week we have had sickness in the air...so it has been a quiet week.
A week of sleep and pretending,  sand play in the garden, baking, reading, drawing and cuddles It's nice to remember those little moments in the week.
The moments that pass in the blink of an eye, but make me so very happy.

Sometimes it really is the simple things...my new book $5 thrifted at a local fair (i don't think it had ever been opened)! Just flicking through the pages and seeing it on my side board in the kitchen has made me smile.

A pasta and patty cake necklace made awhile ago...we found it, played with it and found a nice place to display it. Such happy colours and special art such as this displayed in the house is a nice reminder of the fun things we do together.

Oh, my vintage Christmas tin thrifted at a garage sale on Sunday whilst driving home from the beach. It was $2 and will be perfect to hold all my special Christmas decorations.
I love it and really can't stop thinking about Christmas and all the fun festive activities that go with it.

Craft and drawing...one of our favorite afternoon activities.

Left over pasta in the garden...the flowers are blooming and those cute little legs with boots and big boy pants on...oh, so very sweet.

Friday also makes us smile...2 full days with daddy and tomorrow is our wedding anniversary.
We will spend the day just the three of us, a yummy breakfast  and the early sitting at our local Thai restaurant with our little one.
